First Visit

Your initial appointment will begin with a review of your medical history. If you have a heart murmur, artificial heart valves or prosthetic knees or hips please be sure to inform us and take your antibiotic premedication one hour prior to your visit, as prescribed by your physician. If you do not have any of this medication, please inform us and we will make arrangements for you to get them.

Should your first visit be for an emergency, we will carefully provide treatment so that you will be comfortable and you leave happy.

If you are scheduled for a “checkup,” you will receive a most thorough and gentle cleaning and the necessary x-rays from Diane or Eileen, our most skillful hygienists. Dr. Levy will perform a comprehensive dental examination, including an oral cancer exam, and discuss your concerns. Special care will be taken to check your gums for periodontal disease (gum disease). Occasionally, a complex treatment plan or medical history may require further evaluation and a consultation appointment.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your appointment:

• A list of any medications you are currently taking.
• If your previous dentist has given you x-rays, please bring them with you.
• If you have medical or dental insurance, bring the necessary completed forms. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern. (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are on any medications that may cause bleeding (i.e. aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, blood thinners, etc.)

X-Rays

If your previous dentist has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up, if possible, and bring them to your appointment. If additional films are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.
