Steven M. Levy, DMD
My desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives started in my youth. While attending John F. Kennedy High School, in Bellmore, NY, I was president of the Key Club, the oldest and largest student-led service organization for high school students, sponsored by the local Kiwanis club. Its goal was, and still is, to teach leadership, caring and character through helping those in the community in need. That conviction, along with my creative artistic skills, made dentistry a perfect fit for me.
Being able to make an individual look better, be more comfortable, and feel better about themselves gives me the utmost satisfaction. Connecting with patients on an individual and personal level, not just professional, is not only rewarding, but enables me to deliver care that is optimal for each and every patient. My team and I derive great satisfaction in gaining the confidence of an apprehensive or fearful patient and thus allowing them to be relaxed in a dental setting.
After graduating Binghamton University with a major in biology I spent a year working at Nassau University Medical Center. I went on to a leading dental school, Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, having had the honor of being chosen for their freshman class of 80 out of 4,200 applicants.
Following dental school graduation I entered a one year General Practice Residency at Lutheran Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. The dental residents were an elite group of 4 selected from an applicant pool of 400 dentists. Here I received advanced training in all the dental specialties including prosthodontics (reconstructive dentistry), periodontics (gums), endodontics (root canals), oral surgery, and orthodontics.
After associate-ships at three prestigious Long Island dental offices I purchased my present office in Merrick where I was raised. Here, in my hometown, I felt I could make a difference in the community that gave me so much growing up. It has been an honor to serve and care for my fellow Merokians and my other patients from the surrounding communities on Long Island and New York City.
I have been blessed by an incredible caring, talented and professional team. They believe that the focus of your every visit in my office is you, your comfort, exceeding your expectations and improving your oral health. My team and I are always here to see you as soon as possible should a dental emergency (Dental Emergencies) arise.
I want to thank all my patients for the confidence and support you’ve given my professional team and me over the years. Also, I would like to invite those of you meeting us through this website to join my loyal family of patients.

I continually update my skills and knowledge on a monthly basis via professional publications and continuing education courses in all fields of dentistry, including cosmetics, implants, prosthodontics (reconstruction), periodontics (gums), endodontics (root canals), sleep apnea and snoring treatment, and pharmacology. Our study group, Nassau Dental Perspectives, sponsors some of the most renowned lecturers in dentistry.
Before or after work I can usually be found working out at New York Sports Club. Since I was 18 years old, I’ve learned that regular exercise not only keeps one healthy, but it’s great for boosting energy levels, stress reduction and maintaining a positive spirit. A healthy body and a healthy smile, now that’s a great combination!
From March through November I indulge myself in my love of cars. Since 2009 our team of 4 to 6 drivers, Team Farfrumwinnin (www.facebook.com/farfrumwinnin?fref=ts) competes in The 24 Hours of Lemons (www.24hoursoflemons.com), an endurance race for cars valued at $500 or less. We race our #14 1993 VW Fox (Pictured with me at the wheel.) at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Loudon, NH, New Jersey Motorsports Park and Summit Point Raceway, WV. Sometimes we even win! Many videos of The 24 Hours of Lemons can be found on Youtube.
As an avid autocross enthusiast, and a member of the New York Region of the Sports Car Club of America, I can also be found racing my Mazda RX-8 adorned not only with its car number, but magnetic teeth decals as well. Locally, autocrosses are run at the Meadowlands Sports Complex, Tobay Beach or Nassau Coliseum.
Autocrosses are usually held in large parking lots or airfields. The courses are marked out with cones and the events are timed with laser timers. Cars are divided into various classes. Autocrossing is open to all. No experience necessary. Just bring your daily driver (SUVs and pickups excluded), your enthusiasm, a valid drivers license and about 35 to 50 dollars for the day. At each event, approximately 20% of participants are first timers. So don’t be shy!
Dr. Levy has appeared on TV, on News 12, along with New York State Assemblyman Andrew Raia to discuss autocrossing and motorsports on Long Island and the New York Metropolitan area.
